Gaza: At least 24 dead during food distribution, Israeli army admits to having "fired warning shots"

The Israeli army announced on Tuesday the deaths of three soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip, bringing to 424 the number of Israeli soldiers killed in the military campaign in Gaza since the start of the ground offensive on October 27, 2023, according to a statement.

"The names of three fallen soldiers are authorized for publication," said an Israeli army statement, specifying that the three died in the northern Gaza Strip.

This announcement comes as the Israeli army has intensified its military operations in the Gaza Strip with the stated aim of taking full control of it.

On X and Telegram, the Israeli army admitted to having "fired warning shots" and "other shots" near a food aid distribution center after individuals considered "suspicious" headed toward it.

"The forces fired warning shots, and as the suspects did not move away, more shots were fired near some of them who continued to advance towards the forces," the statement said. "Injuries have been reported, and details of the incident are being investigated," it added.

The Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry announced on Tuesday, June 2, the death of at least 24 people during a food distribution after Israeli gunfire near Rafah, in the south of the Palestinian enclave , reports Reuters.

Earlier, the Territorial Civil Defense announced the death of at least 15 people.
